Drivers are advised to allow extra travel time and yield to snow plows and emergency services vehicles and delay travel to allow conditions to improve when possible.

Several flights were delayed at Norfolk International Airport ahead of the storm. Most of the cancellations were due to canceled flights from Washington DC to Boston.

Robert Bowen, Norfolk Airport spokesman Robert Bowen says crews were on the runways Tuesday afternoon starting anti-icing operations.

'We use a fluid to coat the surfaces and mix it with sand,' Bowen explained.

The airport will be operational and terminals will remain open despite airlines canceling flights, Bowen said.

Amtrak officials say the train schedule is running normal tonight in Norfolk. They say they are watching for debris that may fall onto the tracks but don't anticipate a major impact in Hampton Roads.
