NEWPORT NEWS -- Seven people have been arrested in connection to four burglaries and eight auto thefts in Newport News from June 2013 to August 2013.

Police are calling this a significant bust, but the investigation isn't over. Police are looking for several other individuals they say were involved.

According to police, it doesn't appear the vehicles were being taken to chop shops.

'They didn't appear to be using the vehicles for anything except going from one place to another and then taking another vehicle and dumping that one and then going somewhere else,' said Newport News police spokesman Harold Eley. 'It all appears to circle around this social media thing. We don't know what they were doing in that social medial aspect. But, we do know that it got them all together and they did what they did.'

According to police, 19-year-old Daiquawn Malik Gatling conspired with 20-year-old Michael Moore to steal cars in the North and Central precincts.

Gatling was arrested Wednesday for 6 counts of grand larceny, 6 counts of conspiracy to commit grand larceny, 2 counts of breaking and entering, and 2 counts of conspiracy to enter dwelling w/intent to commit larceny or felony.
