VIRGINIA BEACH A group called Virginia Organizing hosted a vigil for Medicaid expansion Thursday night at the Virginia Beach Town Center.

The group said the gathering was part of nine coordinated events across Virginia in support of expansion.

The General Assembly was poised Thursday night to pass a budget bill that would not include medicaid expansion which would provide more health coverage for Virginians currently not benefitting from Obamacare.

Virginia Organizing held other rallies in Staunton, Charlottesville, Martinsville, Danville, and Pennington Gap, according to a release, to call on legislators to close the coverage gap.
