VIRGINIA BEACH (AP) -- A Virginia Beach gathering of offshore wind advocates and national industry leaders is coming to a close with a town hall meeting on the green energy.
The meeting Thursday night will include a representative from the Offshore Wind Development Coalition, the Atlantic Wind Connection and Dominion Virginia Power, which has expressed an interest in developing wind farms off the state's coast.
A study issued during the conference forecast the creation of more than 70,000 jobs in the Mid-Atlantic states during a 10-year build-up to developing wind farms off the coast from New York to Virginia.
The national conference sponsored by the American Wind Energy Association brought together players from various segments of the emerging wind industry in the U.S.
The town hall meeting is at 7:00 p.m. at the Virginia Aquarium, 717 General Booth Blvd., in the IMAX theater.
