VIRGINIA BEACH-- A familiar face is throwing his name in the ring to take over as Virginia Beach's top cop.

Chief Deputy Commonwealth's Attorney Colin Stolle announced his intentions Friday to succeed his current boss, Commonwealth Attorney Harvey Bryant.

'Public service is something that's been instilled in me,' said Stolle standing outside the Courthouse with dozens of supporters behind him.

Stolle says some of his priorities will be increasing DARE education with the city's youth as well as identity theft and scam education to seniors.

However, Stolle says cracking down on DUI's will be his top priority. 'DUI's are a problem and it affects everybody and we as a community have to make a stand,' Stolle said.

Stolle said he would push for tougher DUI laws and make sure there is prosecutor to handle each DUI case in Virginia Beach.

Stolle's nephew Ken Stolle Jr., who is a Chesapeake Sheriff's Deputy, was charged with a DUI back in November.

'You know Ken is responsible for his own actions and he'll have to stand in court to face that just like everyone else,' Stolle said.

Stolle has been a part of the Commonwealth's Attorney's Office for 17 years.

Bryant announced he will retire at the end of 2013 and endorsed Stolle in the fall election.
