NORFOLK -- The former administrator of the Norfolk Community Services Board was indicted Wednesday for embezzlement in the so called 'no show' worker case.

Brenda Wise was indicted after the Commonwealth's Attorney Office sought direct indictment from the Grand Jury following 'a thorough review of the special grand jury's Dec. 13, 2012 report and all of its investigative materials. These materials include evidence not previously available to the office,' according to a news release.

That December report said Wise had the authority to eliminate the administrative pay, reinstate Jill McGlone or terminate her employment but she didn't act. It also recommended a regular grand jury indict Wise.

Wise was at the Board during the 12 years that McGlone received $320,000 in pay and benefits but didn't go to work. She was fired and stopped receiving checks on May 15, 2010.

A hearing date for Wise has not been set, spokeswoman Amanda Howie said.
