NORFOLK Norfolk police are warning gun owners that they may want to remove 'gun stickers' from their vehicles.

According to reports, burglars are targeting homes with certain decals and stickers on their vehicles indicating they own a gun.

Police sent out a Neighborhood Watch Crime Alert flier to warn people of the trend.

Norfolk police also reported that in Virginia Beach, one suspect admitted to targeting homes that had the stickers displayed.

Virginia Beach police told 13News gun thefts related to gun stickers are not a problem.

Police advise all gun owners to have their weapons and valuables stowed in a safe place and keep an inventory of the models and serial numbers of all firearms.
