NORFOLK -- 11 people were displaced after a fire broke out early Saturday morning at a home on Hampton Boulevard.
Fire and rescue crews got the call around 4:30 a.m. about a residential structure fire in the 7400 block of Hampton Boulevard.
Crews arrived to find smoke coming from the second floor of the two and half story home. According to a press release, additional units were called in to help bringing the total number of firefighters on scene to 30.
The fire was contained to the attic of the home which also has an apartment. All occupants, four adults and seven children were able to get out of the home safely.
The fire was under control around 5:00 a.m.
Officials say the home had a working smoke detector.
Investigators determined the cause of the fire was electrical.
