PORTSMOUTH -- Fire investigators are trying to determine what caused a house in a Portsmouth neighborhood to catch fire Tuesday morning.

Firefighters responded to the 1700 block of Hodges Ferry Road around 9:45 a.m.

Portsmouth Fire Chief Jim Stockton told 13News Now when crews arrived on scene, light smoke was seen coming from the home.

The crews managed to extinguish the fire a short while later.
