HAMPTON -- A fire broke out at a Hampton auto repair shop Tuesday afternoon.

Firefighters responded to the call in the 1000 block of West Mercury Boulevard just before 2 p.m.

Smoke was seen coming from the shop when units arrived on scene, according to the Hampton Division of Fire and Rescue.

The fire originally began in the cab of a vehicle being serviced by a mechanic using a cutting torch, fire officials said. Firefighters extinguished the fire within five minutes.

Nobody was hurt during the ordeal. Hampton fire investigators determined the cause of the fire to be accidental.
