This year has beena homecoming experience for Amanda Candler.

From 2001 to 2004, Candlerwas a key part of thePrincess Anne gymnastics machine which produced three state championships in a row and a runner-up finish in 2004, where she finished fifthin the all-around competition, excelling on the uneven bars scoring a pair of perfect10's.

Now, five years later and after a successful collegiate career at Illinois State, Amanda Candler is back at Princess Anne, this time as gymnastics coach. Candler, in her first season as coach, has guidedthe Lady Cavaliersback into contention in the Beach District.

With justa fewweeksremaining until district tournament play begins, Candler has her team focused and feelsthis year's Princess Anne gymnastics squadhasexceeded all her expectations.

The Lady Cavsare led by Jennifer Ware and Courtney Pala, who haveboth excelled in the all-aroundand will play key roles for Candler and P.A. as tournament time approaches.

District powers such as First Colonial,Kellam and Coxmayhave to watch over their collective shouldersfor Princess Anne,due in large part to a former champion gymnast who hascome backhome tolead her school backto the district and regional elite in areahigh school gymnastics.
