VIRGINIA BEACH - The Lynnhaven Inlet was overflowing early Monday, causing problems for roads and businesses in the Chick's Beach area.

At Bubba's Seafood on Shore Drive, just past the Lesner Bridge, water in the parking lot was knee-high and rising.

At high tide Sunday night, there was water onto Bay Island and over the bulkheads at Lynnhaven Colony and tide-stacking at Lynnhaven Point.

The city reported about two dozen people at the Birdneck Elementary School shelter, some from an RV park.

Sandbridge Road was flooded mid-morning on Monday.
