Virginia Beach- There were somefrightening moments for a Va. Beach family when a tree toppled onto their home early Wednesday. ;
Sarah Harris says her family were asleep in their Brookridge Road home when the neighbor's tree fell around 1:15 a.m. Part of the tree landed on her three-year-old daughter's bedroom.
She said it was scary when they first went into her room because she was hidden by debris from the ceiling & insulation. They went to work and got her out of the mess.
Everyone was a little shook up, but no one was hurt.
A couple houses away, Brandon Fredlaw says the crash woke him up .
'I just kind of poked my head out to see what was going on and I saw a fire truck and a tree through someone's house,' he said.
Ken Pravitz with the Virginia Beach Fire Department says there's been a lot of rain lately and the wet ground may have caused the tree to fall but that hasn't been officially determined.
A family member says the tree left a hole in the roof of the living room, so they're staying with relatives until repairs can be made.
Dominion Virginia Power spokeswoman Bonita Harris told WVEC.com the incident caused a power outage for the Birdneck area, but power was restored around 9:00 a.m.
