NORFOLK-- Tomorrow's planned deployment of the USS Kearsarge Amphibious Ready Group has been postponed because of weather.
US Navy Fleet Forces Command tells 13News, 'Due to forecasted high winds and a potentially heavy sea state, the decision has been made to move the deployment to Monday.'
This impacts the nearly 1,900 sailors aboard the USS Kearsarge, USS Carter Hall and USS San Antonio.
The deployment is part of a regular rotation of forces to support maritime security operations, provide crisis response capability, and increase theater security cooperation and forward naval presence in the U.S. Navy's 5th and 6th Fleet areas of operation.
There is currently no change in plans for tomorrow's homecoming of the Los Angeles Class fast attack submarine USS Albany.
