VIRGINIA BEACH-A woman stole a puppy worth $2,200 from a Va. Beach pet store.

A surveillance camera image shows her with the 10-week-old Maltese/Shih Tzu puppy in her arms at Pet-Go-Round in Pembroke Mall. Police say it took her just 10 minutes to get the dog and leave on March 2.

The store manager says the woman came in with two other people around 7:30 p.m. She says the others distracted employees while the woman went to the back room and took the dog from the display window.

The manager says it wasn't until the next morning while doing paperwork that she realized the dog was gone.

The dog had only been in the store for a day and wasn't going to be for sale for three days so staff could make sure it was up to date in its shots.

She feels like the at least one of those involved had been in the store before because they knew their way around.

If you know the woman or anything about the case, call the Third Precinct Property Crimes Unit at 757-385-2703 or Crime Solvers at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP (562-5887).
