CHESAPEAKE-A traffic stop in Chesapeake turned into a pursuit that ended at a townhouse complex in Portsmouth.

Around 10:10 a.m., police tried to stop a car for a traffic violation at Airline Blvd. and Ahoy Dr. The driver wouldn't pull over and the chase was on.

The pursuit went into Portsmouth, where the driver stopped, bailed out and ran through two different apartments in the area of Lancer Court, said spokeswoman Officer Kelly O'Sullivan.

At that point, the man was picked up by a friend and they drove off.

Police were seen at Mallard Cove townhomes in Portsmouth and the suspect's vehicle was being towed away.

Authorities say the situation continues to be investigated and anyone with information can call Chesapeake Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
