PORTSMOUTH -- The Coast Guard released video of its Wednesday rescue of two people from a sailboat off the coast of Cape Charles on Thursday.

In all, the Coast Guard rescued six people from two sailboats taking on water off the Virginia coast.

The incidents occurred during foul weather Wednesday evening.

Crew members aboard a 34-foot sailboat near the mouth of the Wicomico River reported trouble at about 5 p.m. Two Coast Guard vessels were unable to get the sailboat in tow, and crewmembers could not be hoisted aboard a helicopter because of the rough weather.

Eventually the helicopter lowered a rescue swimmer, who was able to connect a line and the sailboat was towed to shore. One of the two crew members was injured, but the Coast Guard did not provide details.

Later, four people were pulled from a 36-foot sailboat that had hit a submerged object in the Chesapeake Bay near Reedville. Nobody was injured.
