KILL DEVIL HILLS, NC - Parts of northeastern North Carolina are feeling the effects of a new winter storm.

In Kill Devil Hills early Wednesday, 13News Now drove along Croatan Highway and found the main roads had patches of ice, but they were otherwise okay.

Most of the side roads and many business parking lots were covered in ice.

13News Now Meteorologist Craig Moeller says this is the aftermath of Tuesday's snowfall and freezing temperatures.

Wednesday's winter storm has the potential for some snow, sleet and rain.

A winter storm warning for most of the state for Wednesday and into Thursday and Gov. Pat McCrory Tuesday declared a state of emergency.
