NORFOLK -- Students were evacuated after a fire broke out on the fifth floor of a Norfolk State University dorm Friday afternoon.

Light smoke could be seen coming from Babbette B. Smith North Hall around 12:30 p.m., which according to the school's website, is a freshman female dorm.

According to NSU, the students were sent to other residence halls across campus and are expected to return to the residence hall within 48 hours.

No injuries have been reported. The building suffered minor water damage.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
