HAMPTON--The Hampton Veterans Administration Medical Center opened a new clinic for women veterans on Friday.

The government says the number of female veterans using VA health care services has doubled since 2000.

'I love it. It's about time,' said Diana Kochis, a Navy veteran.

The 11,500 square foot stand-alone facility on the Hampton hospital's campus will give them comprehensive primary care with a one-stop-shop approach for mental health, general medical conditions and gender specific conditions.

Services offered include gynecology services, primary care, breast exams and mammography, menopause treatment, substance abuse and mental health services, including treatment for post traumatic stress disorder.
