VIRGINIA BEACH-- Police are looking for the person who shot a man as he walked home from Lynnhaven Mall on Monday.

Police describe the gunman as black, in his early 20s, 5'6' tall, with thin build and wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and black jeans.

The victim says he was passing the Valero gas station near Bow Creek Boulevard when he was shot in the leg by someone he didn't know and then he saw the man run off toward Lynnhaven Parkway.

Police say the victim flagged down a motorist in the 3000 block of Bow Creek Boulevard and the motorist called 911.

The victim was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injures.

Police are investigating a possible motive.

There are no suspects in custody.
