PORTSMOUTH (AP) -- The Coast Guard rescued a man and his dog after his sailboat became disabled in the Back River near Hampton.

The 41-foot sailboat was disabled, adrift and dragging its anchor when the pair was rescued on Wednesday. The boat was found about half a mile northwest of the Bell Isle Marina in Hampton.

The man and his dog were taken to the Langley Air Force Base marina.
