HAMPTON- A man was hit by a car, forcing police to shut down I-664 in Hampton during the morning rush Monday.

Va. State Police says it happened around 7:20 a.m. on I-664 South at the I-64 East interchange.

Around 8:00 a.m., all lanes on 664 were closed so Nightingale Air Ambulance could pick up the injured pedestrian.

Northbound I-664 reopened, and southbound traffic was opened at 8:16 a.m. However, the ramps remained closed for more than an hour after that.

Police say the car was changing lanes and struck the man.

44-year-old Jimmy Diggs of Newport News was treated for minor injuries, State Police said, and no charges were filed against the driver.
