NORFOLK--Old Dominion University Police are investigating a burglary that was reported Monday at one of the school's residence halls.

Police say that small items that could be easily concealed were taken from a room in the Gresham East Dormitory around 10:50 a.m.

The suspect entered an unlocked room shortly after one of the residents left the room. The suspect was challenged by a second occupant of the room.

When asked what he was doing, the suspect provided an excuse to explain why he was in the room and left taking personal property belonging to the resident.

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 20 years old, 5'6', slight build, last seen wearing a white t-shirt with a grey stripe across the front and the number 3 on the right sleeve, tan pants with a black backpack.

Police are still investigating and have released two photos of the suspect.

ODU says it has also increased police patrols around the residence halls.

Anyone with information on the suspect is asked to call Detective Taylor at 683-4000.
