VIRGINIA BEACH-People in a Va. Beach neighborhood are waking up with low or no water pressure.

Crews are working to fix two broken water mains - one at Jericho Road and S. Independence Blvd. and another at Jericho and Declaration road.

Water spilling onto the street was reported around 1:40 a.m., police said.

Authorities say the area will have water issues for most of the morning. That will affect homes, businesses and schools in the area.

Va. Beach Schools spokeswoman Jennifer McCarrel said 'Our department of division services is providing bottled water to Kemps Landing Magnet and Pembroke Elementary and we're working to ensure the school day will go on as usual. Public works has said they could have water service back to the schools as early as 10:00 a.m.; however, we are prepared to carry water over as needed for food services etc. until the problem is resolved,' she told WVEC.com.

As of 9:00 a.m., there was no water service at the schools. McCarrel said there'a tank that holds about 750 gallons of water that is being sent to the schools to provide water for flushing the toilets.

There are no lanes closed right now, but once repairs being, one lane on Jericho will be closed.
