5/28 UPDATE: Vincent Parker pleaded guilty to 2 charges of 2nd degree murder and faces 5-40 years per charge when he's sentenced on September 18.
He was an honor student, was in 10th grade when the killings occurred.
He will be staying at a detention center until his sentencing.
UPDATE 5/27: Vincent Parker, 16, is expected to plead guilty Wednesday to killing his parents,according to Amanda Howie with the Norfolk Commonwealth's Attorney's Office.
The Norview High School student was to be tried as an adult.
UPDATE 12/21/13: Police have charged a 16-year-old boy with two counts of Second Degree Murder in connection with this incident.
No further information about the teen will be released due to his age.
The motive of the incident remains under investigation.
UPDATE 12/20/13:Police have identified the victims as 58-year-old Carol Parker and 56-year-old Wayne Parker.
Police say the two were married.
At this time, police say the motive is not known and nobody has been charged.
Carol worked for Dominion Power for 35 years. The company issued the following statement:
Our hearts go out to Carol's family and friends tonight. We are all shocked and saddened by this tragedy. Carol was a longtime, beloved member of our Dominion family. She was a wonderful person who loved to help people. She put her heart and soul into her job. She will be sorely missed.
NORFOLK -- Police are trying to piece together what happened Thursday after a man and woman were killed in their Norfolk home.
Police say both were stabbed in a home in the 1000 block of Bland Street around 4 p.m.
The man and woman died at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital Thursday night.
Neighbors are shocked by the brutal deaths.
'I would never guess that anything like that would happen,' said Mike Coponiti.
Like many of his neighbors, Coponiti says he has no idea what went on behind closed doors.
'You don't know what caused it, what went down, it's really hard to say,' he said
Norfolk Police tell 13News Now that they have a person of interest in custody, but no arrests have been made. At this point, they say they are not looking for any other suspects.
