NORFOLK- The Elizabeth River Ferry service is temporarily suspended due to high winds.

A bus bridge was put in place to take people to their destinations.

Hampton Roads Transit officials say ferry service will start again when the winds calm down.

Late Friday morning, winds were still gusting 35-45MPH.

The ferry takes riders between downtown Norfolk and downtown Portsmouth across the Elizabeth River.
