UPDATE 1/6: Police have identified the driver of the Chrysler as 59-year-old Kelvin Spencer Bracy.

Police have charged the driver of the Suzuki, 27-year-old James William Dyson Jr. of the 3200 block of Red Grove Court in Virginia Beach, with felony eluding, second degree murder, DUI maiming, first offense DUI, refusal, driving on a suspended operators license and no seat belt.

Police say alcohol and speed are factors in the incident.

VIRGINIA BEACH -- A pursuit ended in a crash Sunday night that killed one person and hurt three others.

Master Police Officer Tonya Borman said dispatchers received a call about the three-vehicle wreck near Pleasant Valley Road and Lynnhaven Parkway shortly after 10:00 p.m.

According to police, an officer tried pulling a Suzuki over on traffic violations, but the driver didn't stop.

A pursuit started, but it ended a short time later when the Suzuki slammed into a Chrysler van in the southbound lanes of Lynnhaven Parkway. The collision pushed the van into the northbound lane of Lynnhaven Parkway.

The van's driver was killed. No one else was in that vehicle, according to investigators.

The Suzuki flipped over and caught on fire. The driver was ejected; two passengers were rescued from the burning vehicle. All three people were taken to the hospital for treatment and should recover, emergency worker said.

A third car was involved, but damage to it was very minor and no one in the vehicle was hurt, police stated.

The investigation into the crash continues. .

Police say that because this was a pursuit and someone died, there will be an internal review by the department.
