CHESAPEAKE-A 40-year-old woman was found dead in her Chesapeake home and police say they have a person of interest in the case.
The death of Stacey Velder is the city's first homicide of 2014, said MPO Kelly O'Sullivan.
Police found her body Sunday after being asked to make a well-being check at her Foxton Street home.
Velder's death became a homicide yesterday after an autopsy was conducted, but because of the ongoing investigation, no details about her death of the person of interest are being released.
Family and friends created the Bring Stacey Velder Home page on Facebook to raise money to return his remains to family in Nebraska.
On the page, people talked of her with fondness.
