WILLIAMSBURG -- A woman left six of her grandchildren unsupervised in a Williamsburg hotel room for at least 10 hours before returning under the influence of alcohol, police told 13News now.

Maj. Stephen Rubino of the James City County Police Department said 58-year-old Diana Lynn Taliaferro left the six children, who are under the age of 11 and included a 2-year-old, at the Pineapple Inn.

Rubino said there are 'several stories' about Taliaferro's activities, but she returned the next day and was believed to have been under the influence of alcohol.

The children were turned over to a family friend.

Taliaferro faces five misdemeanor counts and one felony count of child neglect.
