EASTERN NORTH CAROLINA -- The American Red Cross has stepped in aid storm victims from Friday night's severe weather.

In Perquimans County, drinking water and cleaning supplies were distributed. Storm debris has made some areas temporarily inaccessible.

A shelter has been set up at the Perquimans County Senior Center located at 1072 Harvey Point Road in Hertford.

Another shelter has been set up in Beaufort County as initial reports indicate that more than 60 homes sustained major damage.

Residents can seek assistance at Snowd Branch Church of God at 3282 Voa Road in Washington.

Anyone needing help can also call the American Red Cross at 1-800-Red Cross(733-2767).
