NORFOLK -- The city of Norfolk has removed parking meters in one section of town in the Arts District on Granby street near Brambleton Avenue.

City spokesperson Lori Crouch said leaders wanted to support business growth in this area and removed the meters from the sidewalk.

Business owners on the downtown side of Brambleton are asking the city for the same treatment.

'It's hard when parking is so much,' said Melissa Sanders. 'There's no grace period for a ticket.'

Crouch told 13News Now there are no plans to remove meters on the downtown side of Brambleton Avenue.
