CHESAPEAKE-- Two grenades were removed from a home in Great Bridge Tuesday by members of the Navy Explosive Ordinance Disposal unit.

Family members of a recently deceased man were cleaning a house in the 500 block Briarfield Drive when they discovered two grenades sitting on a shelf in the attic.

Fire officials say the grenades were military grade, but appeared to be 'training grenades.'

They say this could mean they were not explosive or 'minimally' explosive and say nobody was in danger at any time.

The grenades appeared to be from the 1950's and both have been disposed of at the Naval Weapons Station in Yorktown.
