SUFFOLK-- An Isle of Wight sheriff's deputy who died in a motorcycle crash Sunday was laid to rest Thursday.

A celebration of life was held for Sgt. Jeffrey A. Storm at Westminster Reformed Presbyterian Church in Suffolk.

Officials say Storm's 1999 Yamaha VMX12 was traveling northbound on Walters Highway near Hunt Club Road when he lost control and left the roadway. Storm was thrown from the motorcycle and died at the scene.

Isle of White Sheriff Mark Marshall said Storm was known for his work ethic. 'Many days he would show up to the office when he wasn't scheduled to work so he could finish paperwork or anything else that needed to be done,' said Marshall.

Others described Storm as being full of life, always smiling and going out of his way to help others.

Marshall said Sgt. Storm was, 'One of the nicest men you'd ever meet.'

Storm was an 18-year veteran of the Sheriff's Department and was promoted to the rank of sergeant in 2000.

Most recently he was an Administrative Sergeant and Crime Prevention Specialist.
