NEWPORT NEWS - A four-year-old will be honored Monday for her actions to save her mother who was having a seizure.

Jai'lah Driver called 9-1-1 in September after her mother passed out in their Newport News home.She was taught to call for help before her father was deployed.

She and a maintenance worker who rescued a man trapped in a burning apartment in February 2012 will receive Good Samaritan awards from the Newport News Fire Department.

The 'Medal of Valor' will be presented to Master Firefighter-Medic Michael Small, who wasoff duty and saved the life of his friend last July. They were boating when Kevin Davis slipped, hit his head and fell into the water.

A Medal of Merit, Firefighter and Employee of the Year awards will also be presented at the 2:00 p.m. ceremony at the Downing-Gross Cultural Arts Center in Newport News.
