PORTSMOUTH--The Coast Guard suspended its search Thursday for a man who was reported overdue while aboard a 15-foot zodiac boat near Wanchese, N.C.

A concerned friend of the man contacted the Coast Guard Station Oregon Inlet in Nags Head at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday and reported the missing man's vehicle had been left at the Mill Landing Road Boat Ramp in Wanchese since Jan. 31st. .

The Dare County Sherriff's office located the missing man's wallet and driver's license in his vehicle.

The Coast Guard issued an urgent marine broadcast and dispatched a MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City and a 24-foot Special Purpose Craft from Station Oregon Inlet.

Efforts to find the man have been unsuccessful.
