VIRGINIA BEACH Fire damaged a home in Va. Beach Saturday afternoon.

Crews were called to the 5500 block of Aragon Drive around 1:45 p.m.

Jennifer Smith posted a photo of the fire on the WVEC13 Facebook page. She said her parents had lived in the home for nearly 38 years and they lost everything.

None of the three people in the single-story home was hurt, but one police officer was treated at the scene for breathing difficulties and a firefighter was taken to the hospital with a back injury, said spokeswoman Amy Valdez.

Valdez also said that the family's cat died in the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
