YORK COUNTY -- A woman is recovering after she was randomly attacked with acid in York County Tuesday night.

The incident happened at the McDonald's on Route 17, near the Tabb Walmart, according to the York-Poquoson Sheriff's Office.

Investigators say the male suspect approached the woman while she was shopping at Walmart and asked her out on a date, but she turned him down.

The woman told deputies, shortly after the encounter, the man came up to her at a nearby McDonald's and threw liquid on her. He then fled the scene in an Older model white Oldsmobile Cutlass.

The victim suffered chemical burns to her legs and was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated, deputies said.

The suspect is described as being a black male, approximately 6'0' tall and weighed around 200 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black button down short sleeve shirt, blue jeans and was said to be driving an older model white Oldsmobile Cutlass.

Anyone with information is asked to call the York-Poquoson Sheriff's Office.
