GEORGETOWN, Texas -- Police say two children were playing a game when they drowned at Lake Georgetown on Sunday evening.

According to Capt. Roland Waits with the Georgetown Police Department, a 4-year-old boy and his 6-year-old sister were with their 11-year-old sibling playing a game, seeing which of them could hold their breath the longest. They were about 15 feet from shore.

Police say when the older sibling realized neither of the children had come up for air, the sibling started looking for the children and found the girl after about five minutes. The boy was found 15 minutes later. Both children were found in two to three feet of water.

Witnesses performed CPR until medics arrived. Williamson County EMS responded to Russell Park at Lake Georgetown around 5 p.m., and the children were transported to Dell Children's Medical Center with CPR still in progress. They were pronounced dead around 6:30 p.m.

Family members were reportedly at Lake Georgetown when the incident occurred.

Georgetown police said the investigation is ongoing, and detectives are requesting an autopsy on both the children. Police say they believe the drownings were an accident and don't anticipate any charges being filed.
