HAMPTON -- An argument escalated to murder outside a Hampton apartment, police say.

Police got several calls about shots fired in the 100 block of Doolittle Road around 4:30 a.m. Wednesday.

22-year old airman Richard Glenn Redick Jr., who lived on Langley Air Force Base, was shot once in the upper body.

He had been at the complex visiting his estranged wife, Cpl. Jason Price told WVEC.com.

Price says Redick got into a fight with Marcus Devall Wingate, 23, inside an apartment. They went outside, according to witnesses and that's when Wingate pulled a gun and fired a shot.

Wingate is wanted on charges of Murder, Use of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
