HAMPTON-- Dominion Virginia Power has determined the cause of the circuit failure in Hampton that occurred Monday night.

A spokesperson for the utility said a broken cross arm in the 4000 block of Threechopt Road caused the outage and would be replaced.

The outage affected about 4600 customers including Thomas Nelson Community College and two nursing homes.

By 9:30 p.m., power was restored to all but 670 customers. It was estimated the rest would be restored by midnight.
