VIRGINIA BEACH The Virginia Beach SPCA is competing in a national competition to save more animals.
It's called the Rachel Ray Adoption Campaign. 'The real challenge for us is to increase our adoption percentages as compared to our 2012 numbers,' Amanda Panuline said.
Rachel Ray is promoting the push on her TV show and her website. The top shelter will win $100,000.
Last summer, adoption rates in Virginia Beach hovered around 90 percent. Jen Castleberry showed us 'Ace' whose family became homeless and they had to give him away. Castleberry is excited about the Rachel Ray competition. 'I think it really unites shelters and just animal lovers in general.'
