ELIZABETH CITY -- Police are searching for a suspect that is accused of breaking into a home and assaulting three people early Saturday morning.

Around 3:00 a.m. officers responded to a burglary call in the 300 block of East Burgess Street.

The victim told officers that Kenneth Charles Lassiter broke into the home and tried to force himself on her.

A struggle took place among the suspect, the victim and her child along with another person inside the home.

Lassiter is also accused of assaulting the other two individuals.

He faces several charges including first degree burglary, first degree sexual offense, and assault on a child under the age of 12.

19-year-old Lassiter is described as being 6 feet tall, weighing about 150 pounds. The case is under investigation.
