CHESAPEAKE-- A Chesapeake man was arrested Wednesday for allegedly abducting a woman in Norfolk.

Police say the woman accepted a ride from 36-year-old Kelvin A. Johnson around 2 a.m., but rather than taking her home, Johnson allegedly drove her to Chesapeake and refused to allow her out of the vehicle.

The victim managed to get free at Freeman Street and Bainbridge Boulevard and call police.

Johnson was arrested shortly thereafter and charged with abduction.

Johnson is currently in the Norfolk City Jail.
