PORTSMOUTH--A shooting Tuesday night in Portsmouth may have stemmed from a dispute earlier in the day, police said.

Detective Misty Holley said two men were shot at Fayette Street and Elm Ave. around 8:00 p.m.

The victims were taken to the hospital for treatment and were expected to recover.

The exact circumstances of the shooting are under investigation.
