NEWPORT NEWS -- A 42-year-old Newport News woman was arrested Tuesday police say she stabbed her boyfriend in the buttock.

According to Newport News Police spokeswoman Holly McPhersen, a 55-year-old man reported that his girlfriend had stabbed him in the buttock with a steak knife during an argument in 1100 block of 22nd Street.

The man was taken to a the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Police charged Foncelia Eular Smith, of the 1100 block of 22nd Street, with malicious wounding.
