CAMDEN COUNTY, N.C. -- Two people were killed after a lumber truck and a minivan collided in Camden County Tuesday night.

The crash happened on Route 17 near Main Street in South Mills around 6 p.m., according to Camden County Sheriff Tony Perry.

The two victims who died were both elderly and from Perquiman's County, Perry said. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

The truck driver was taken to Sentara Albemarle Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
