ELIZABETH CITY, N.C .-- Police Friday identified the man found dead earlier this week near Weeksville.

Sheriff Randy Cartwright said Adrian Donte Johnson's death is a homicide.

Johnson, 22, lived in Elizabeth City, NC.

According to the Daily Advance newspaper, Johnson's body was found in a lot off Esclip Road near the intersection of Salem Church Road.

The sheriff's office received a call about 6:15 a.m. Wednesday from a passer-by who reported seeing a body on the ground.

Johnson likely was killed there and just a few hours before his body was found, the paper reported.

Results from the autopsy haven't come back.
