PORTSMOUTH -- A 17-year-old boy was found guilty in Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court Thursday of the May 30th rape of a girl in a stairwell of Churchland High School.
At the time of the incident, a police department spokeswoman said the boy grabbed the 15-year-old on a stairwell as the 15-year-old headed to class. He supposedly removed her clothing and raped her on a landing.
Officers said surveillance cameras captured the incident.
The victim was treated at Maryview Hospital for injuries.
The family of the boy told 13News the teenagers skipped class to meet each other and that the sex was consensual. His relatives added a third student also skipped class to act as a lookout for the two students.
The family explained the teenagers had an on-again-off-again relationship for about 2 years. Both families told them they were not to see each other, but they continued to have contact with one another.
The suspect's name was never released due to his age.
