VIRGINIA BEACH--Police confirmed Monday afternoon that the body found under heavy brush and branches on Sandfiddler Road on Sunday is that of Diane Hartzog.

The remains were found just a few houses down from where the 59-year-old was staying with family for Christmas. Shewent for a walk and never returned, her family said.

A Sandbridge resident found the remains under heavy brush and low-lying branches in the 3600 block of Sandfiddler Road around 3:25 p.m. Investigators say it appears the body had been there for some time.

Residents tell 13News the body was found in the backyard of a home they call 'Bahama Mama.'

Police say the Medical Examiner's Office will determine how Hartzog died, but they don't suspect foul play.
